'Brainfreezed As I Am'

As i recall the past few days in my rat race of a life working in Penang... It's just so fast, dudes & dudettes, I can't help thinking where i'm going to be, or where i'll end up (that's always the pessimistic me talking but yeah...). Routines turn into, well.....the mundane and i guess this is what working life is all about, not that i haven't worked before, but after my brief stint (4 months) of being a home bum... the realisation is as clear as ever.

But of course, i don't mean this in a bad way, don't get me wrong. Just that it's a couple of thoughts here and there, mostly strayed and visiting me from time to time.

And it's also 'cause i took 4 cans of Heinekken (Bless ur soul, you know who you are, for giving this poor individual a temporary release and retreat...i think it was 3 hours but that's it but it was still good, hehe) and slept at 3 am last nite. I'm making up for not spending my weekends in Penang. But sometimes it's a bit harsh (and a miracle) that i work the next day, not fresh of course, but not really zombied either..... i wish that my colleaugues would testify to this, though of my constant blunder and carelessness at work, i doubt they can see the difference between a previous day that i'm well rested and days' like yesterday. I'm a klutz in the brain.

Took my bag of dirty laundry (that's what the Taiping washing machine is for, it curses my name though....) to work and left there at 6 pm. Proceded to have dinner at the same mamak place near the jetty, caught a ferry over to Butterworth and from there a ticket back to Taiping.

It was as rushed as this (If what i remember is correct...):

Practically powerwalked all the way from the ferry to the bus ticket stands.

"Cik, tiket Taiping paling awal?" ("Earliest ticket to Taiping?")

"8.30" (at the time it was 7.00, and i went what the heck, another hour and 1/2.....)

"Takpe, saya pergi tengok ada lagi tempat tak, tunggu kat depan bas no.(?)" ["Nevermind, i'll go see if the bus still has places, wait in front of the bus plate numbered (?)]

I thought yeah sure.

Gave her MYR5.90, snatched the ticket and away i went to the place where the buses were, breathing monoxide and getting ash fumes and God knows what else.... She was pretty fast too, the moment i took the ticket, she went out of the booth to the place where i was heading.

In front of bus plate no.(?) (Sorry, my memory does not compliment me very well, i try to use whatever semblance of it that's left):

"Tunggu" ("Wait")

She gets on the bus to collect the ticket stubs and to check how many places are vacant.

There was 5 of us out there (all with later tickets).

"Masuk" ("Come in, all")

I breathe a sign of relief. The air has changed, cooler and i was to reach Taiping in about one and 1/2 hours time. And i stopped in my tracks.... only 2 seats were left to me. Both were next to big, brutal looking indian guys. So i took the one closest to me.

He practically sat on 1 and a quarter seats. Yeah he was that big. And thank God that i'm a bit smaller. So yeah, imagine a guy, a big guy 'overflowing' to ur side of the seat. They played ERA (local radio) a bit loud and the whole time i couldn't sleep. Beautiful.

Anyways, i got back in one piece, which IS a good thing.

Had a good drink and chat with me jammin' mate and fellow lepaker, Mr V. And yeah another jamming session is sceduled for tomorrow. I keep doing the same things but once in a while, i dunno, maybe i'm just the simple type that enjoys playing music and rocking out every weekend.

Went back home to see mum and aunt and family. Everyone looked well, and the kid was so cute.

Grabbed the car keys to the Daihatsu, again started with just 2 twists of the key, such a nice car, if only for the air conditioning :-( , 2 bottles of water and here i am.

The mundane it seems, never really gets to me.

But thats just me, now.

A bit out of my head.

Need more oxygen.

& sleep.

;-)
