'Horror Movie Week'

Not really an eventful week, but at least i had 2 outings to the cinema where currently the latest 'House of Wax' & 'Infection' was shown. And the latter it seems was already out in Japan in 2004, but hey at least it made it here in Malaysia.

On Tuesday, i was contemplating to see 'Madagascar' but since i saw House was being shown, and yeah i'm a sucker for trailers, went again alone to a horrorshow.

Pretty painful in parts that i've got to say, i'm still feeling some of the scenes as i recollect certain parts of the movie. Sure it's a remake of some old show, and it's a teen-slasher flick, but for certain scenes being shown (few years back you wouldn't catch ANYTHING or the whole movie itself would end up banned) in a Malaysian cinema, well, i've got to say that the censorship boards aren't that much of a stick in the mud anymore. However shock value wise, this one runs low, and of course the ending leaves you with much to be sour about.

And yeah when i was catching this, a guy turned to his girl and said, "Wow, big...", when Elisha Cuthbert was walking out of the tent in her night clothes, pretty loose and all, making the male imagination clock in over-time. I had to chuckle a bit when he said that. So yeah, that's one part that everyone should look out for, haha.

And it was alrite that the order of deaths weren't that predictable. Of course you know this guy or that girl would 'get it', but i'm talking about progression here. It was alrite.

Ending, as expected was just so-so.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I caught 'Infection' (the movie, not some STD) just last night, and right before that i met up with Cheong who was passing out flyers for next weeks' gig/art exhibition at Dewan Sri Pinang. FYI, pre-sales passes cost RM18-00 & passes on the day itself are RM20-00. Details and contact numbers are found linked in my map to the gig post, few posts down. Lookin' forward to it. ;-)

Anyways back to the show. Since it was a Japanese production of course my expectations were a little bit higher. But anyways which Malaysian guy doesn't dig Japanese actresses who play nurses? The whole movie was played out in a hospital, which feels freaky at 1st 'cause hospitals are so horror movie material, for me anyways....

In the end though the buildup to the main plot was quite good, i was again left with a yearning for more after the show. Me and a friend even laughed out loud in parts (even some other people too but i think i was the most audible), well, you've got to watch it to know what i mean. Term to catch: 'Stoner Dr.'

But seriously compared to House, this one lacked execution (few times i went, 'Oh man, get real...') for certain hair raising scenes (supposedly made to be?, aw heck, someone interview the director...) but made up in the shock value department. One girl a few seats to my right actually screamed when there was NOTHING going on: which i thought was cool. Of course i too missed one part, 'cause i was blinking my eyes a lot, no, shutting them was more like it, haha....but yeah it was certainly more frightening than House (up until the main plot where everything goes downhill, and by then me and my friend were laughing...)

Conclusion: Sadists and violence seekers, que to Wax, and yeah Paris Hilton haters have something to look forward to as well ;-). People who want to get frightened (or just want to see their girlfriends scream, shiver and shake - which in turn means the guys are sadists too), get a ticket to 'Infection'. Just don't come back here and curse me for their endings, it's the journey not the destination anyways.

Peace out.

;-)
