'Week 2 and 1/2 In Penang (w. Pics)'

This was something i kicked myself for forgetting to bring back last week to Taiping, it was 2 cds worth of pictures taken during Andrew's recording session at some studio, give me some time to find the namecard, it's in my wallet somewhere, but anyways i'm rushing off for dinner so i'll make this a quick summary of me tagging along, taking pictures and basically seeing how a recording process is done by some pro. With a lot of sweat and attention thrown in, it's hard not to see why we'd take breaks now and then, and yeah, i was just watching, enjoying, day-dreaming.... ;-)

It Begins with the Opening of a Case Posted by Hello
- Basically this is the 1st shot i took at Andrew's recording session, to see it being done, bit by bit. I was lethargic though i didn't do zilch. Anyways, this was probably the clearest pic of the rest 'cause i was sitting down. That's Andrew's Viola by the way, i think she has a name, 'cause all musicians name their instruments and it's always a 'she', haha, but that's just me thinking out loud. Beautiful Viola and case by the way.

Colourful Connections
Posted by Hello
- I love Marshall amps for the fact that i don't need to toy around much with the gadgetry below my feet during jamming, just set it right and play with the volume. It's so nice sounding, but of course, i'd need to rob a bank to get one. Not in this lifetime dude, i'll just be playing other people's amp. This one had nice colourful cables on it. Cluttered but artistic, again i'm being narcissist. Hehe.

Speakers Blast, Unsteady Hands : Fuzzy Picture
Posted by Hello
- This one was me out of the recording room, where i spent most of the night. Thanks for letting me take pictures with your cam man, hands were a bit shaky but then again i was pretty much at home. The couch was comfy and the sound during the recording was very 'full and detailed'.

Ghost Piano Posted by Hello
- Was a step too late and the piano player left (still with my shaky hands), Jeep if i recalled his name correctly, was a master at improvising at the piano, sings great too!

Recording In Session, Bass Player Improvises
Posted by Hello
- The theme of the night was jazz, much improvising was done, and some really difficult parts were hammered into the mix with real blood and sweat. Repeats and countless attempts to better each improvisation proved to be tough, even to watch. I felt a little tense too. Hehe.

Clutter On A Console
Posted by Hello
- Took this one 'cause it looked 'cool', but then again whatevers in a studio makes a good picture subject....

Recording Gadgetry
Posted by Hello
- Last picture of the day, another technological advancement being used in the modern day recording. I can recall myself with the walkman and radio when i was younger, with those old tapes and a Kapok guitar, but that's another story for another day.

Thanks for letting me tag along dude, a cool experience, one for the books

;-)

Note: Here's the address of the place, not too sure but think that it's mainly for recording, anyways you can go and contact the main guy if you're into this type of thing... (I got this from a namecard there, with a guestbook on the desk and all):
