'See This Through and Leave'

I was staring at the expanse of white around us.

I remembered what I had written for you, but I couldn't bring myself to read it to you:

Warmth like sunlight in:
Bright colors stirred dawn-sonnets,
Stayed soft smells

Our bodies tumbling
Through folds and creases; falling
Disquiet heartbeats

Reined in this presence,
Fingers sought reality:
An Eternity

In embrace thrice felt;
Beyond a wordless sweetness
Desire tarries

As one reminder:
Our souls are not parallel;
We hope and we live

So I told you that I'm not from around here instead. And you stared at me blankly, as if I had spoken in tongues which were not from this world.

"No, you're not. But I can't shake off the feeling that I've seen you from somewhere before."

"You haven't," I lied.

I'm just here to say goodbye.

And then you start to cry, as if remembering, and apologetically, I bring myself closer to wipe your tears away.

But even before I get to touch you, you wake up.
