[Listening To: 'Are You There?' by Mono]
I never blamed the rain; it rains and it rains and it rains
I try to be profound and say that gravity is different here
that things are slower here; heavier, here
but that's just me, trying to make the mundane interesting
this pensioner's paradise means so much to me
when I think about it, that perhaps, I'll take you around to see
the various places which shaped me one day
and if you're up for it, the people, too
I think I'll let you read me, after all
Life's too short for me to keep insisting that what I've written
stays on the shelf. My pride has made me a jail keeper, a builder of facades
it's funny when you ask why, because it seems to me that you already know
I wish I could say this but it's still too early to tell (I am careful):
we are vessels carved by sorrow, to be filled with joy
I think this is what I should have answered a friend
the other day; anyone, any other day. We can hope
I think it's time that I lifted my head

you're right. we can hope, and we have to always maintain that hope. lift your head. it's raining here too, but remember this - the rain always makes way for the sun.
