'Find Me Faithful'

Today is Wesley Methodist Taiping Church's 70th Anniversary. It warms my heart to be a part of this family this day (especially after attending a lunch where there was a joke telling competition - a lot of 'em had political and biblical personalities in their telling, but that's well expected. What I didn't expect was a joke about Winston Churchill being naked, proclaming that he had 'nothing to hide' - I was eating fish curry then, fyi: the joke which won came from a mother's real life experience with her son, when after trying to 'brainwash' the eight year old son to get this girl who was seven, to be his 'future partner'; reached a point where he retorted with the banging of the table and drama: "But I'm too old for her!". Cute story btw), though sometimes I'm 'in, then out' with the 'good and the bad': God is ever patient with me, with my stumbling and all.

I spent almost 20 years of spiritual-life grooming / nurturing / growth there (with minor joint-fellowships with the KL and Penang chapters, during the course of my work - geographical relocation due to money matters). I thank God for the people I've met there, for how they tought me, for how they cared (some were like distant relatives, only in the sense that on Sundays when I attend the service, the same; roughly similiar questions are trivially conveyed to me: "So where are you working now?" / "Have you found a job?" / "What are you working as?" - what gets me mildly irritated is the fact that sometimes they were done by the same persons week after week *shrugs then smiles*), and how they made me feel like I was a member of the church family too.

I would never trade away this part of me for anything else.

God bless Wesley Methodist Taiping. May you flourish and prosper decade after decade.
